TU Berlin Convocation & Farewell Party 2026 — Event Photography in Berlin
Capturing milestones is one of the most rewarding parts of being an event photographer in Berlin. I had the opportunity to photograph the TU Berlin Convocation and Farewell Party 2026 for the Global Production Engineering International Master’s Program at Technische Universität Berlin. It was an evening that celebrated the achievements of an international group of graduates from dozens of countries around the world.
From certificate ceremonies with faculty on stage to emotional moments shared with family and friends, this event was full of genuine, camera-ready moments. There were also group portraits and, finally, the traditional cap toss that closed out the celebration. Here’s a look inside the evening, and what it takes to photograph a university convocation like this one in Berlin.

Setting the Scene: An International Class of Graduates
The evening opened with faculty walking the audience through the story of the graduating class. It was an international cohort representing dozens of countries, all brought together by TU Berlin’s Global Production Engineering program. Wide shots of the stage and screen helped set the scene before the ceremony itself began. This gave the story context before the emotion took over, and as the event photographer in Berlin covering the evening, I wanted every frame to carry that sense of occasion.

Faculty on Stage: The Certificate Ceremony
The heart of any convocation is the certificate ceremony, and this one was no exception. Faculty members took turns addressing the graduates before calling each one on stage individually to receive their Master’s certificate. In short, it was a moment years of hard work had been building toward.

As an event photographer, this is where timing matters most. I’m anticipating the handshake, the smile, the moment the certificate changes hands. That way, every graduate walks away with a genuine, well-composed photo of their moment on stage.
Emotional Moments With Family and Friends
Beyond the formal ceremony, some of the most memorable images from the night came from candid, unscripted moments. Graduates laughing with friends, embracing classmates, and celebrating in their gowns just off stage made for some of the best shots. These are the images that tend to mean the most. That’s especially true once the formal photos have been shared and the evening has settled in — it’s a big part of why couples and event organisers hire a Berlin event photographer who knows when to step back and just watch for these moments.

The Traditional Cap Toss
No convocation is complete without the traditional cap toss, and this closing moment brought the entire ceremony full circle. Finally, with arms raised and caps in the air, years of work behind them — this is the shot every graduation photographer waits for.

The Farewell Party: Live Music and Celebration
Once the formal ceremony wrapped up, the evening moved into the Farewell Party 2026. After that, a live band performance kept the celebration going long after the caps came down.

Why Hire an Event Photographer in Berlin
As an event photographer based in Berlin, my goal is the same at every event — from university convocations to corporate milestones and private celebrations. I want to preserve genuine emotion and create timeless images that tell your event’s real story, not a staged version of it. That means arriving early to understand the run of show and staying ready for the unscripted moments. It also means delivering a gallery that captures both the formal highlights and the candid ones in between.
If you’re planning a graduation, convocation, corporate event, or celebration in Berlin, I’d love to hear from you. Above all, I want photography that actually tells the story of your day.
